Platform Downtown at Boston Fashion Week
This year's Boston Fashion Week is about accessibility - that anyone can access fashion. You don't have to be a millionaire to be a part of the fashion world and look fashionable. In the spirit of Boston Fashion Week 3.0 - which is all about changing how we define the role of fashion throughout the city and in our lives - Terri Mahn and the Downtown Boston BID team have spent the past several months building relationships and developing events that challenge everyone to think outside the box. Terri Mahn is the owner of thestylistcloset, and is the curator and producer of Platform Downtown. Click here for a full brochure on Platform Boston events.
Here are a few of the highlights of Platform Downtown:
9/27 - "Origin" - A Fashion Short Film by Bearwalk Productions
9/27 - THE SIXTH FLOOR: Official Boston Fashion Week Opening Event
"Project Beginnings" - photographers Bob Packert and Sadie Dayton will be setting the tone for Platform Downtown with an installation that blurs the boundaries between fashion, art, photography and mulitmedia experiences. This is an ongoing exhibit throughout Boston Fashion Week.
9/28 - THE HAND OF FASHION: Fashion Artisans (see below)
OPEN RUNWAY is a part of Platform Downtown during Boston Fashion Week. Using the same premise as an open mic night for singers or comedians, this OPEN RUNWAY will provide an opportunity for budding local fashion designers to show their creations. Fashion designers at every stage of their careers (that includes student fashion designers) are invited to participate in this open air fashion show in Downtown Crossing on Wednesday, September 30th, 2015 at noon. There is no charge to participate. Click here for rules and more information about how to show your work on the OPEN RUNWAY.
10/3 - MODERN MADONNA: Jonathan Joseph Peters featuring House of Cach
10/3 - PLATFORM DOWNTOWN: Closing Night Party
In addition to these daily offerings, photographer Tracy Aiguier's latest work will be the focus of an outdoor digital photo installation of fashion images shot around Downtown Crossing.
More information and tickets for all Platform Downtown events will be available soon!
