Traffic Advisory:  

The Downtown Boston BID has received the following information from the Boston Transportation Department:

Please be advised that as part of the demolition of the 115 Winthrop Square Garage there will be traffic pattern changes to Devonshire Street until further notice.

Devonshire Street will be closed to vehicular traffic and bicyclists from the 100 Summer Street Garage to 75-101 Federal St. Devonshire Street will become a two-way street from Summer Street to the entrance of the 100 Summer Street garage. 

The sidewalk on the west side of Devonshire Street will remain open to pedestrians. Access to the 100 Summer Street parking garage, 100 Summer Street loading dock, Common Vines wine shop, and residential properties on Devonshire Street will be available.

Downtown Boston is continuously undergoing transformation. New towers are getting built and older buildings are being renovated. Streets, sidewalks, water & sewer pipes, and telecommunications infrastructure are being repaired. All sorts of projects are underway!

Congress Square (Quaker Lane) Development Project Boston

Congress Square (Quaker Lane) Development Project


Where: 54-82 Devonshire St./13-21 Congress St., including Quaker Lane

When: Related/Beal launched this 458,300-sq. ft. project, which includes 92,700-sq. ft. of proposed new development, in March 2016. This mixed-use project includes retail, residential, office, and hotel and will open-up Quaker Lane to incorporate sidewalk cafes.

South Station Expansion Project 

 South Station (Atlantic Avenue & Summer Street)

When: MassDOT is planning an $850 million expansion of South Station to improve service and accommodate future demand. Feasibility analyses are being conducted; there is no timeline for the project.
