Learn about one of Boston’s most world-changing inventions and see a museum that’s not regularly open to the public. \nAhoy-hoy\, lovers of nerdy history! \nOn this special late afternoon tour\, we’ll get you inside a museum that isn’t ordinarily open to the public: Verizon’s museum of the telephone\, which contains an incredible collection of early telephone equipment\, as well as a recreation of Alexander Graham Bell’s lab that was overseen by his assistant\, Thomas Watson. \nThen\, we’ll walk together and discuss several other key spots related to telephone history — including the place where the first public demonstration happened\, in May 1876. We’ll wrap up with an (optional) drink at a Beacon Hill bar where AGB relaxed after a long day’s inventing. \nWhen you join us for this special tour\, you can purchase a Benefactor Ticket that includes a limited edition embroidered Innovation Trail hat. DESCRIPTION:“I am dedicated to nurturing dancers of all ages and guiding them in discovering the richness of their cultural heritage through this timeless art form.” – Neha Kumar \nNeha Kumar is a Bharatanatyam dancer and the artistic director of Nritya Dance Academy in Westborough\, Massachusetts. With over 25 years of experience in this classical art form\, she has performed on stages across the United States and in India. Beyond the stage\, Neha has used Bharatanatyam as a medium for impact—supporting meaningful causes and raising funds for underprivileged children in both the U.S. and in India. \nBharatanatyam is an Indian Classical Dance form that originated in the temples of South India over 2000 years ago involving intense foot movements in rhythmic patterns in combination with facial expressions to depict stories of Hindu mythology. Bharatanatyam is performed to Carnatic (South Indian classical) music\, where the ragam defines the melodic structure and mood of the song\, and talam provides the rhythmic framework. \nThis event is open to the public. Tickets are required and can be purchased online\, through the Modern Theatre ticketing website. \nWalk-up tickets will be available to purchase at the Modern Theatre box office on the day of each performance\, one hour before each performance’s scheduled start time\, subject to availability. \nIf you have any questions or if you need assistance purchasing tickets\, please email boxoffice@suffolk.edu .
