Members $10 and Visitors $15 or Members $20 and Visitors $25 and includes a signed copy Domenico Starnone’s novel, Trick
Join us for an evening with Pulitzer Prize-Winning author Jhumpa Lahiri and Strega Prize-Winner Domenico Starnone. These literary masters will discuss their most recent collaboration—Lahiri's translation of Starnone's novel, Trick, from Italian into English. Starnone is considered one of Italy's greatest living writers and has garnered international acclaim. Meanwhile, Lahiri—whose latest work, In Other Words, explores the role of language and identity—has made the fascinating choice to live her creative life in Italian, writing original work exclusively in that language. She was inspired to approach English again as a translator by reading Starnone’s novels and their newest collaboration, Trick, is a brilliantly devised drama where the rage of an aging man smashes up against the optimism incarnate in a young child—his four year old grandson. Michael Reynolds, Editor in Chief of Europa Editions, will moderate the discussion that examines the creative life choices of these prominent writers and the book that brought them together.
