"Inspirational Women" (Suffolk University)

Some might say it’s a man’s world, but the Adams Gallery presents another point of view in this selection of portraits from Bill and Kerry Brett’s recent book, Boston: Inspirational Women. These photographs depict women who work in law enforcement, construction, and the corporate boardroom. They are moms, activists and public servants. Some perform their work in the public eye; others behind the scenes, but they represent a cross-section of the women who keep Boston humming. And each has a story to tell.

Bill Brett has been an award-winning photojournalist for close to half a century, spending much of that time at The Boston Globe, where he began working as a photographer at age 18. The portraits in this exhibit are drawn from the most recent of Brett’s four books of Boston portraits. In her first collaboration with her father, Kerry Brett, a staff photographer for The Improper Bostonian, brings a singular editorial style. Her work has appeared in many publications, including New York , Professional Photographer, and Rangefinder magazines.

The Adams Gallery, located at 120 Tremont St. (Suffolk University Law School) is open daily from 9 am-7 pm.
