"Modern Demands, Historic Spaces" (Old State House)

"Modern Demands, Historic Spaces" (Old State House)

Boston’s Old State House is the oldest public building that survives from the original thirteen colonies, but caring for a 300-year-old building presents many challenges. A distinguished panel of experts will examine key issues in historic preservation, using this important structure as a touchstone for discussion.

Questions include: How can accessibility be improved without disturbing the integrity of historic structures? How can the fast-paced technology used during everyday life be incorporated into historic structures for preservation and education? How do changing energy efficiency and building technologies affect historic structures? Audience participation will be encouraged throughout.
