Sail Boston Crew & Cadet Street Parade Presented by Downtown Boston BID

The Crew & Cadet Street Parade presented by Downtown Boston BID is an opportunity to celebrate Sail Boston 2017 and to welcome crew, cadets and guests from around the world. Marching bands and cadets from the visiting ships will parade from Seaport Boulevard to Downtown Crossing.

Approximately 1,500 parade participants are expected, including marching bands, as well as cadets from the visiting ships. The parade will step off from Seaport Boulevard and end at the intersection of Washington and Summer streets in Downtown Crossing.

The parade will consist of four divisions, each with a color guard, a band, ships’ crew and country flag bearers. 

Parade participants include the Downtown Boston Brass Band, Downtown Boston Dixieland Band, USS Constitution Color Guard and Crew, Mass Maritime Academy Band and Color Guard, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard Silent Drill Team, Irish American Police Officers Association Pipes & Drums and the U.S. Marine Corps; Crews from ships of the following countries will also participate -- Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Canada, Finland, Malta, Latvia, UK, Spain, Germany and the Republica of Vanuata; other participants include the Lexington Minutemen, Colonial Navy Color Guard, Colonial Navy Fife & Drum, Middlesex County Volunteers Color Guard, Middlesex County Volunteers Fife & Drum and more. 

Please expect driving delays along the parade route as streets will be temporarily closed while the parade passes. Access to streets will reopen once the parade passes individual streets. Pedestrian access will not be affected throughout the duration of the parade.

Vehicular restrictions for the Downtown Crossing Pedestrian Zone will be strictly enforced from 11 am to 6 pm. The pedestrian zone includes Washington Street from Temple Place to Bromfield Street, Winter Street, Summer Street from Washington to Hawley streets, Bromfield Street from Province to Washington streets.

Parade route
  • The parade will begin at the Blue Hill Bank Pavilion on Northern Avenue 
  • Proceed down Seaport Boulevard crossing the Moakley Bridge
  • Turn left onto High Street 
  • Right onto Summer Street 
  • The parade will conclude at Summer and Washington streets
