What Do We Have in Common?
What Do We Have in Common? will be on view for free to the public on Boston Common near the Parkman Bandstand, Sept 22 - Oct 22. Follow along on social media using #incommonbos for this month-long exploration. Commissioned by the Friends of the Public Garden to celebrate their 50th Anniversary and curated and produced by Now + There, artist and public art trailblazer Janet Zweig will unveil “What Do We Have in Common?,” September 22 on Boston Common. This large, participatory public sculpture will feature a hand-crafted, double-sided, fantastically oversized cabinet with drawers containing blue glowing markers that will inspire conversation about commonalities and public ownership in memorable and insightful ways. With an ever-changing set of questions and nighttime illumination, this engaging, whimsical work will invite, with the help of a group of Guides, thought-provoking conversations and reflections on our shared responsibilities to each other and the public spaces we visit.
