Highball Lounge (Nine Zero Hotel)
Reviving The Vintage Cocktail Lounge Scene, The Highball Brings A Stylish Ambiance To Tremont Street
Highball Lounge is a no-attitude, laid-back, vintage cocktail lounge in the heart of the city, tucked into the Nine Zero hotel on Boston Common.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants collaborated with Chef Ken Oringer to create a comfortable spot where folks can kick back, grab a beer, a small bite, and a killer cocktail, all while listening to the resident DJ spin eclectic music ranging from The Roots, to Lana del Ray, to The Police. Complementing the lounge’s laid-back vibe, guests are surrounded by a vintage-style ambiance, including distressed leather banquettes, reclaimed wood walls, antique mirrored cocktail tables, Chesterfield couches, and an eclectic mix of custom armchairs. New World Design Builders created an intimate space lit with vintage chandeliers, Edison bulb sconces and custom floor lamps. The bar lamps, placed on either end of the bar, are made with early 20th-century plumbing pipes and glass bottles collected from breweries across the country, dating back nearly a century.
The center of the space holds two ten-person communal tables made from reclaimed wood, complete with tolix counter stools. If guests are looking for a private nook, there is a room off the main lounge with two seating areas furnished with custom velvet couches. Accents of blue, red and ivory are woven into the seating and drapery, adding contrast and a soft texture to the design. Custom artwork is also displayed throughout, reinforcing the lounge’s vintage vibe.
