The Fife and Drum Showcase will feature groups in numerous historical locations throughout downtown.
The William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps is a traditional fife and drum corps based in Lexington, Massachusetts. They are the largest junior fife and drum corps in New England. The signature sound of colonial New England is the sound of the six hole wooden fife and the rope tension drum. These are the instruments used by their musicians. Clothing worn by the musicians approximates that worn by persons of yeoman status, living in Lexington in 1775.
Step back in time with the Sudbury Ancient Fyfe and Drum Companie, based in the historic town of Sudbury, Massachusetts. Dressed in authentic 18th-century uniforms and performing with traditional instruments, they bring to life the stirring military music that once echoed through America’s colonial battlefields and town greens. Hear the sharp snap of the snare, the piercing call of the fyfe, and the heartbeat of a young nation finding its voice.
