Boston's First Public Radio Station, WERS 88.9 FM Broadcasts Live From Tremont Street, Across From the Boston Common

WERS 88.9 FM, operated by Emerson College students and broadcasting live 24 hours a day across from Boston Common in the Theater District (180 Tremont Street), was the first public radio station in Boston, having started broadcasting in 1949.

Broadcasting more live performances than any other radio station in Boston, WERS is Boston’s Discovery Station, helping listeners discover their next favorite artist, band, or album, whether it’s new, local, independent, or re-discovered classic.

The station provides an eclectic mix of indie rock, alternative and folk, with specialty reggae, hip-hop, and family-friendly programs. WERS broadcasts commercial-free, to Boston and beyond.
