Chameleon Arts Ensemble: Shadows of Their Voices

The Chameleon Arts Ensemble resumes its 2016-17 chamber music series with a poignant program of memories and elegies titled “shadows of their voices.”

Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50 is a grand work of heartfelt depth in tribute to his friend and mentor Nikolai Rubenstein. Luciano Berio offers a shimmering memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King with “O King” for voice and chamber ensemble. The rarely-heard, yet superb British composer Gordon Jacob’s 1956 Sextet in B-flat for piano & winds, Op. 6 is a work of immediate emotional impact, composed in memory of a friend and colleague. Finally, Simon Bainbridge with his Four Primo Levi Settings for soprano, clarinet, viola, and piano, illuminates a quietly powerful voice of compassion and humanity.
