Langston Hughes' Black Nativity at the Emerson Paramount Center

The National Center of Afro-American Artists is pleased to present its 48th season of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity, a gospel telling of the Christmas story. A highly energetic song-play narrated in black vernacular speech, our production features a dramatic "pas de deux" performed to African drums in which the dancing Mary delivers the newly born Christ Child to a mesmerized audience. you will be swept away by the cast of more than fifty joy-filled children, men and women lifting their voices in glee.

The National Center of Afro-American Artists offers Black Nativity as a gift from the Boston Black Community to men and women of "good will" of all cultures and traditions. Black Nativity has become a cherished seasonal tradition in Boston.
